Okay so it is the second day of the sneak peaks!

Posted by tracy watkiss at 09:07 13 comments

Now you have to be a little quiet whilst visiting today as this little Bamboo is just a little bit shy.

As you can see he is hiding in the shadows, whilst his sunflower reaches for the light. ( Tracy took a really rubbish photos in other words) doh!.

I just love this stamp set, and I have combined him with a folded card and a die sire leaf die, which was molded and distressed to give shape.

the folded card, I will be demoing at Endsleigh this weekend with other CC products.

I was quite pleased with this card as it reminds me of sunnier times.

Brrr! Is it me or does it feel like it is never going to be sunny in the UK ever again. Can't complain really as we have escaped most of the snow.

That's all for today as I am off now to teach two workshops today.

Speak soon xxxx

Prep work nearly done and a little discovery!

Posted by tracy watkiss at 16:49 10 comments

Well I was supposed to get a lot more prepping and crafting done today than I actually have,

but the everyday life gods said nope we need your attention today.

In the form of sorting colours for new kitchen and bathroom, batch cooking and more!

Although when I did retreat to my little bit of me space, it was getting dark with very little light to see properly without shadows.

But I did knock up the above card quite quickly for a demonstration on Saturday, at Endsleigh Garden Centre.

Now I know there's a bit of uneven border going on, but this was my practice card, I will remake it properly later on so it sits easier with my picky eye for the demo.

I just love this set of stamps by Sheena Douglas.

But I think I may have made a little discovery, but if this has been covered elsewhere I apologise profusely.

Where I had used the distress inks as the background, once I stamped the butterfly up and started to colour it with my spectrum noir pens, I noticed the distress ink acted like some kind of barrier and the ink did not soak through on to the back of the cardstock where the distress ink was!

Now I admit I was very light with my pens, but see, hardly anything came through, will have to experiment further me thinks. MMMM! Indeed.

I will mainly be featuring the ebosser along with the folders but wanted at least one sample to show the stamps can be simple and elegant without much else xxx

Do you remember this guy! If so bare with there is a point to this post.

Okay peeps, how many nodded and said yes? Show of hands Please.

For the unaware, it is sesame streets Count Dracula, he taught children all over the world to count, with his wannaaaa, two aaa, treaaa, style of counting.

I still recite him now.( I know I am sad, but that's me).

The thing is should we ever stop learning?

Answer is simply NO!

In everyday life we need to keep learning something new, and not be afraid to ask for help!

This also applies to those crafters, demonstrators and designers out there.

I got I could craft, I loved crafting, I got I could demonstrate and teach people, I love sharing.

What I did not grasp was the art of networking and showcasing my self properly.

At Networking I suck - basically trust issues left me, okay with strangers for 5 hours at a time, but wary if people wanted to get closer!

Lots of mistakes made in the past, weird it does not effect my demonstrating and teaching but I do have confidence issues, that I hide which makes me seem very confident. Does that make sense?

This week I have broken a few barriers down, and I have spent 30 minutes online with a lovely lady.

Emma Collins.

She is a working mum and runs a PR business as well as working part time in house for Design Objectives.

After talking to Emma she got me buzzing again to blog, social network and more importantly to chat.

I don't think Emma even realised how scared I was to do this and was relieved when she said we could do a pr brainstorm over Facebook chat, I will without doubt be working with Emma again and next time hopefully over the phone LOL!!

Please if you need any PR work, go check Emma's Facebook page out, I cannot rate her enough.

I feel all uplifted and positive today.

All this mess and absolutely nothing to show!

Posted by tracy watkiss at 18:33 8 comments

Well good evening everyone, I cannot believe it is 6.17pm on Sunday evening already!

I really don't know where the time has gone today.

I went travelling blog land this morning and came across some lovey pieces of work and left a few comments here and there and no doubt, I will do the same again later on.

(I am just going to waffle here a moment, but bare with, it does all tie up the post lovely.)

I must admit I just sobbed at the end of Under cover boss USA, I have not watched this programme before and probably won't again, but it did bring a lump to my throat. It is always lovely to see good things come to hardworking people. Really uplifting!

Which the same can not be Said of my craft workspace right now!

I am having an I don't like it day today, everything I have done, has resulted in a deep sigh, a shrug of the shoulders and a quietly spoken, " nope, I don't like it."

Now I know we all get days like this lol! But you can bet your last sticky gem on the fact that at 3am tomorrow morning the muse will hit me, and a wriggly sleepless night/ morning will ensue!

So what I would like to know from all my fellow bloggers and mateys out there in craft land is.

How do you cope when your mojo has left you for the day to go and be creative with another craft enthusiast? Or what do you do, if its sneaks back in the wee early hours expecting you to take it back and carry on as it never deserted you?

Another sneaky peek for you!

Posted by tracy watkiss at 11:27 2 comments

WHOO hoo the pick of the week, Crisalis launch for Crafters Companion on Create and Craft is getting ever closer. It will soon be Friday.

And I have another sneaky peek for you today!

I have chosen another one of the stamped images to use today, and again I got lost in the colouring, this one I love as my Mum has a Spaniel puppy called Ollie, so of course had to colour in his markings.

The rose was actually white, and I coloured it with my Spectrum noir pens to tone in with my coloured image.

Thanks for stopping by.

Shhhhh!!!!! Have you heard!!

Posted by tracy watkiss at 09:07 9 comments

Crafters Companion have the Pick of the Week on Create and Craft starting Friday.

Well this week sees the return of the Paintbox Poppets in the form of Crisalis Classics. All lovingly created by Christine Haworth

Now when I heard it was Crisalis Classics, my heart flipped, as I knew there would be stamps, as well as the CD Rom. Well my heart flipped as I thought ooh goodie stamps, and then when I saw them I thought OMG! How can I colour them and do justice to Christine's beautiful art work.

So off I positioned my self in my little work area to set too, and I just drifted off for a few hours, and when I say a few hours that is no understatement. For the first time in ages I spent hours on colouring and turning the images into cards and projects. I need not have worried, spectrum noir shades made it a dream to colour. Whilst I am no Christine for colouring, I am quite happy with the results.

Here is my first peek!!
I haved used an Embossalicious 8x8 folder (EF8-RGSSWIRL)
My spectrum noir pens.
And have used a die'sire die as the mask to do sky and grass with distress inks.
Here is a closer look at the colouring.

I will be showcasing a card a day over the next few days to tempt you! To be honest though if you like elegant cards, these images are so beautiful it will pop into your mitts no problem.

I know the other DT members have been working just as hard, so pop along and see what they have created.

Feel free to ask questions at any time xxx

Crafters Companion Challenge

Posted by tracy watkiss at 09:23 1 comments
Hiya, just posting today to remind you all about this months Crafters Companion Blog Challenge
Team A have already posted their cards and now its time for Team B!
The theme this month is Love is in the Air - of course what else could it be in the month of LUUURVVE!

There is a £30 spend at Crafters up for grabs for one lucky participant, don't forget you have to be in it to win it xxx
Here is my card.
I have used an embossalicious 6 x6 embossing folder, embossing onto red coredinations cardstock through my ebosser, and then sanding back very gently. I then took my x cut heart dies and cut out two hearts.
With a white gel pen I just highlighted certain areas, popped on a couple of adhesive pearls.
The tag is a die'sire die as is the mini heart charm.
Kraft card was used and edged with a spectrum noir pen to create faux matting and layering.
Please don't forget to check out the rest of the DT work, we really appreciate visits and comments on our blogs. All T&C's are over there too.
Till next time
Hugs xxx

I loved making this frame!

Posted by tracy watkiss at 14:30 4 comments

You know sometimes you sit down to craft and you never know what you are going to make, or where your creativity will lead you.

The other day I had one of those days. Allowed to play with some of the wonderful products from Crafters Companion to do as I wished. The only instruction was that they had to be super duper to be used at trade shows and tv work!

Well we are all so critical of our own work I always feel mine don't quite make the mark, but with the project below it turned into a labour of love, one that I did not want to send away. In fact I ended up making a duplicate exactly the Sam so I could keep. As it has a picture of my two wonderful daughters - whom I love with all my heart.

The whole project was thought up in my head, but for once I remembered to take step by step photos, so below will follow a tutorial, for those that wish to make something similar. You are free to make to sell and share, but if you are blogging please give credit and maybe link to me, as I would love to come visit and see what you have made.

Just Tracy's Crafts Customers I will be doing a class on this, with the cost covering materials if you want to make it in a nice social atmosphere. Call the shop on 01752 340317 to find out the dates etc. will be in April 2013.

I would love to read your comments on what you think of it! Or if you have a go at making one, post a link so I can come see - ooh please do.

Materials for the main base

4 sheets of 12 x 12 Kraft card (just Tracy's crafts have it here)

1 sheet 12 x 12 coredinations cardstock (colour of your choice, I used cream of wheat)

1/2 metre lace

Die sire 8 x 8 regency frame embossing folder

* Ebosser or other die cutting machine that will take 8 x 8 folder

Ruler, pencil, embossing tool, bone folder, craft knife, masking tape and strong adhesive , distress ink tattered straw and vintage photo if desired.

* if you don't have a die cutting machine you can still make the frame, just omit the embossing stage.

1) cut all 4 pieces of the Kraft card down to 8 x 8 squares.

2) take one piece and measure and mark along the top and bottom edges at the 5" mark. Then draw a line.

3) On the line you have just drawn measure down 2 1/2" and mark, now from the bottom left hand corner measure along the bottom 1" and mark. Draw another line connecting these two pencil marks.

4) on this diagonal line measure up from the bottom 1" and cut across to the bottom of the straight line.

5) With your craft knife cut this diagonal line. And with your embossing tool / scorer, score down the kraft from where the diagonal line meets the straight line. Mountain fold this score line and make a nice crisp edge with your bone folder.

6) place glue as shown, and then stick another piece of 8 x 8 Kraft card on top of this piece. This is the back of the frame complete.

Leave this to dry, and now we will move onto the front of the frame.

8) the 3rd and 4th pieces of Kraft card need to be cut exactly the same. Take a piece and measure along the top and bottom in from each edge 1 1/2" and mark, and join the marks with a pencil line.

9) turn and repeat on the other side to create a square in the middle.

10) Cut out the square very carefully with a craft knife and ruler and, repeat steps 8 - 10 with your final piece of Kraft card. Stick these pieces 3 and 4 together.

Time to decorate the front of the frame to make it tidy!

11) take your piece of coredinations card stock, cut it to 7 3/4" x 7 3/4" square, pop it right side up in your chosen embossing folder and emboss through your machine. Ink up the edges if so desired with distress inks, sand down gently. On the left hand side front put your lace and adhere to the back of the coredinations. Stick this onto the front of your piece formed in steps 8-10 above. ( I apologise , I forgot photos of this step, doh!). But you can get an idea from this photo.

We need to turn it over now.

12) draw and cut the lines from corner to corner. And then cut away a smaller square in the centre and add tape to frame edge as shown.

13) score along the aperture edges and fold the card onto the tape.

14) now as I want smoothness inside for my photo to be able to slide in and out I have used masking tape to cover my rough edges and the overspill of sticky tape.

15) now see all those lovely red squiggly arrow lines in the photo above, this is where you need to place the glue to stick the fron of the frame to the base,

The top of the frame and aperture are left clear to enable the photos to be charged if you want too.

Stick the top to the base, also ensuring they are both the right way up.

Turn over and decorate as desired.

For those wanting to know I used die'sire dies leaf 1, die'sire die classical frame, round spellbinder die.

Various flowers and stamens, the 3 large flowers were white and I colour matched with my spectrum noir pens, and the photo is sepia and again I tinted the lips of my daughters with spectrum Noirs which really made the picture pop!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and I tired to be as clear as possible, any questions please ask.

My musing day

Posted by tracy watkiss at 15:58 2 comments

The only way

to do

great work

Is to

Love what

You do!

Steve Jobs

Over the last few weeks, I have mused about my crafting skills, my diet life, my running life, my family life, my friends.

Was I happy enough creating some of the projects for my classes, was I good enough to keep teaching and demonstrating? Will I regain all 6 stone if i eat that bit of cake? Will I be the worst runner ever, if I only like running whilst its light with a slight wind to cool me down? Do I spend enough time with my friends and family socially?

The quote above really made me stop and think!

And do you know what the outcome was,

I do enjoy making cards as long as I have the time to relax and make them and can believe in the products I am using. So need to create for me and then plan it into a workshop - after all my ladies stick with me so I must be doing something right!

Demonstrating, I love as its like a quick fire round of sharing hints and tips, enabling people to use the products I am, it is my job to give them the need for the product, it is the shops job to sell it.

I have to relax my dieting brain, eat healthy 6 days a week and enjoy my weeklies on one day.

Run when I want to and If I want to, not because I need a faster time and further distance.

Family and friends, I am going to take time out from work, diet and exercise to love, laugh and live with you more.

Just thought I would share!

Hugs Tracy xx

I had a little play with a yummy Paper shelter image!

Posted by tracy watkiss at 14:19 0 comments
Every now and then I get the urge to colour, now I know I colour in most days, but some days that feeling
Is so strong it is very weird in deed, my husband likens it to a smoker and nicotine.
I would not know this as I do not and have never smoked.
So today the urge was upon me! And my little card below is the result.
Now this image is a digi image from The Paper shelter as are the background papers used!
Ooh and I also spied they are having a DT call, and as there blog challenge is on a Wednesday and Tuesdays are my days off and I colour a lot on those days, it seems it would be rude not too have a little go at seeing if I can play along. Will also work with one of my rules of life to get my blog used more.
I coloured my image with what now seems every spectrum noir I have, okay slight exaggeration!
The ribbon well what a result, whilst food shopping at Lidl ( the quality of their fresh meat, fruit and veg is second to none, I kid you not) my husband said they got ribbon there. Bless him he looks out for crafty bargains for me - so well trained. 99p for a 5 metre roll.
I knew they would, go with the papers so oops in my trolley they fell.

So if you like to know colours used for the images, make yourself a cuppa this list is super long.

Skin: FS1, FS2, TN1 TN2

Lips : CR1

Cheeks: PP1, PP3

Hair: DR1, DR4, DR5, DR6, DR7,BG9

Hat: CT1,GB2,GB4,GB7,GB8

Ribbon and top: CR1,CR2,TN3,TN6 a little DG4 for spots

Trousers: EB1,EB2,EB3,EB4

Rock: GB1, GB6, GB9, IG7

Cake: CT1 for sponge, CR6 for icing and CR10 for cherries

Grass: DG1, DG2 DG4

Sky: BT1, BT3 and blender

I used distress ink to shade around the image : scattered straw

Cut out with a large spellbinder circle and then backed with the scalloped circle die.

Now if you excuse me, I have to go and colour again !

My workspace first show at WOYWW 192!

Posted by tracy watkiss at 09:09 19 comments
Whoop whoop I am so excited three reasons , Firstly I love my man and friends so much.
Seeing me getting stressed out and annoyed and not doing anything the last two weeks, they cracked onto get my workspace done for me.
Secondly So as my area is created this week sees me initiating into the world of WOYWW!
And thirdly! Welcome to all my new followers from Crafters Companion, thankyou for such lovely comments on the hop, so appreciated. I will be back visiting your blogs over the next couple of days, I'm sure.
Right onto WOYWW 192
I have still got loads and loads of boxes to unpack that are in the shop, but we have made a start! I even gave it a little test drive yesterday. I have promised only essentials will make it onto those shelves.
Now whilst they were building cupboards all white, I got miffed my desk (brown) would look shabby, so I pimped it. LOL!! It's definitely a one off! I used the left over wallpaper from the feature wall as this area is in the guest bedroom, and used some white lace, this took me a while as I could only do so much before needing a rest. It has to stay relatively tidy (acctmm!) may be a challenge. I am waiting on 3 white towel rails to come so I can have my punches up. I love it as everything is at arms length - lazy moo syndrome.
The room still has boxes and scraps everywhere but is getting there, I am allowed to sit this morning and play, but have to stop when I get tired (hubbies instructions, and I do listen to him, shh! Don't tell him I said that).
On my desk I have TOP SECRET stamps soon to be out from Crafters Companion, that I am colouring! No sneaky peaks yet!

I am off for a look around blog land before a bath
