Days off are few and far.

*SIGH - of relaxation and happiness.

I am enjoying a day off today, our ward was short staffed on Tuesday and I ended up doing a very long split shift day. 7am - 1pm and then 4pm - 11pm. 

I feel as if I was only asked to do this as I recently............... 

Oh my forgot to post the news on my blog, I posted on Facebook but not here. LOL!!! 


Fear, dread, excitement and freedom all rolled into one.
Something I always said I would Never Ever do, my feelings of fear and anxiety were that strong about it.

Just goes to show everything can be overcome - although I had a little help from Bachs Rescue Me Herbal Remedy - courtesy of my driving instructor.

Any hoo, getting back to everything else, work at the hospital continues to be something I am happy to be working within. Although, no set shift pattern is a bummer, finding out every 6 weeks your new rota and its a mixture of earlies, lates, long days, twilights and nights can be exhausting especially if you only get 1 day off every few shifts.

 I am still maintaining weight - looking at this positively, its not going up any further, I still struggle to manage, diet, exercise, work and life balance.
I have a really good couple of weeks then a couple of really bad lazy ass ones. 

However I have got myself a 12 week journal, started Tuesday and aim to be as good as I can and not put too much pressure on (my down fall), just aim for 10,000 steps and try to do some form of exercise for 30 mins 3x a week. I really want to get back to a running club too, but my belief in going back to my old club wains as soon as I look at the routes on their website, Hills, hills and more bloody hills.  Such a running wuss.

So today brings, food shopping, baking, gym (I hope) and a drive on some new to me routes to get me used to driving not just to and fro work xxxx

Tracking Today was good -15/6/2016

Started the day with a banana and a black coffee.

Dale had to go pick up a prescription and then we had to go and get some muller lights - cannot run out I need one of these in my day.

Then home for lunch


 Love Crayfish tails, all syn free bar 1tbsp of light salad cream (1Syn) and a healthy extra B for the roll.

Then after lunch a nice C25k run ensued, WK6 RUN 3 = 25 minutes constant running. 2.21 Miles.

Then because its my day off and I had a massive moment of madness, I booked myself into a zumba class at the gym for 6pm till 6.45pm and then I ran the mile home.

Evening meal was  Pasta and slimming world meatballs in homemade tomato,onion and mushroom sauce.

snacks at bedtime space raiders crisp 13g bag and slimming world bar, 3 syns each.

Finished the day on over 18,500 steps taken (includes the runs totaling 3.37 miles ) and 45 minutes of Zumba.

Shower and Bed now to relax with a book before 5am wake up tomorrow for work x

Oh my what a whirlwind of things going on in my life - much of which is good and positive.

Work continues to fulfil me, I am in the final 6 weeks of the apprenticeship I started, it has been tough going on the finances but so worth the sacrifice. I found out 2 weeks ago that I am being taken on full time as a qualified HCA, within the clinical support team of a local hospital, I will be learning a lot more over the next few weeks to fulfil this role. 

Talking of learning, for future career development I am thinking of taking Maths and English GCSE's, gulp. I am from O levels and CSE's so it has been a while, had a maths assessment last night so watch this space. Well when I say assessment,  it was "lets sit this non calculator exam and see how you do to see if you can go on the course". EEEKK! Other learning is taking place but that story will be told another day.

Nothing creative is taking place as I really cannot fit anything in at the moment, no dressmaking, knitting or papercraft. 

I realised with the contentment of work life, and the abundance of cake and chocolates supplied by co-workers and patients relatives that my weight and fitness had once again spiralled out of control. I had tried back in January to re-join Weight Watchers and follow the new Smart Points system but in all honesty I no longer liked the program or the support offered by the replacement leader.

So I was left struggling and pretty much gave up. Then a work colleague talked me into trying Slimming World and I must admit I was sceptical  but I gave it a go, Shocked at first to realise I had to lose 2 1/2 stone to get me back to goal (at least its not the full 6 stone I originally lost). Well It took me a couple of months of really not trying after joining to get my head in the right place to buckle down and do it. I love it now easy to follow and quite easy to follow when going out. 

I am pleased to report that this week I got .......

yep my half stone award - YIPPPEEEE    I AAAAY.

Actually 8 1/2 pounds gone.

I am back following C25k week 6 nearly done and I am back swimming and have rejoined a gym, treated myself to joining a posh one up the road, Classes are all in the membership and heated pools, steam rooms, sauna, jacuzzi, 

I am a happy happy me xxx
